GRADES 6–12

Join Maimouna Youssef for a special performance as she explores how each person can use their own creative voice to facilitate social change. Throughout the workshop she examines catchy top 40 songwriting formulas and how their hypnotic nature can effectively communicate themes surrounding social justice and political viewpoints. We explore how to take an abstract idea or concept and make it tangible, personal and palatable for general consumption. We explore the power of inspiration, how to find it, harness it, and move humanity forward. The principals learned in this class are taught from a musical perspective but can also be applied to fashion, visual art, public speaking, etc.
