THE HARLEM STAGE
FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

ROUND 3

Harlem Stage has received a grant from the New York City Theater Sub-district Council that will enable them to offer six-month general management fellowships with a focus on institutional operations and six-month development fellowships with a focus on Foundation Corporate and Individual fundraising to aspiring arts professionals of color. Check out the call for applications below!

THE PROGRAM
Round 3 of the fellowship program will span 6 months, from March 19, 2018–September 21, 2018. Each fellow will receive $25,000 for their six-month commitment.

TO APPLY
If you, or someone you know, would be interested in the program, submission should be sent to: jobsearch@harlemstage.org. "Fellowship" must be indicated in the subject line. Deadline for round 3 submissions is Monday, January 8, 2018. Submissions should include a cover letterresume and brief essay (500 word max.) describing candidate's interests and goals or growth objectives.

MENTORSHIP AND NETWORKING
Executive Director Pat Cruz is an African-American woman who has been an arts administrator and worked in development for over 30 years. Managing Director James King has been an arts administrator for over 20 years. Cruz and King will mentor fellows from their respective departments. Mentors will conduct entrance interviews to assess the fellows’ aspirational career goals, areas for development and prior experience in the field, if any. Mentors will also hold bi-weekly check-in meetings and measure fellows’ progress against the growth objectives established in entrance interviews. Mentors will accompany fellows at two (2) networking events to introduce them to other arts professionals, affinity groups and arts institutions. At the end of the fellowship, mentors will conduct exit interviews that will include an overall assessment of the fellows’ progress and updated goals.

Mentors will reach out to fellows six months after the completion of their fellowships to evaluate the effectiveness of the program, assess how their aspirational career goals have evolved since the fellows' exit interviews and connect them with additional resources. The program's ability to build equity and diversity in the arts hinges on our mentors' sustained engagement with former fellows. Fellows will be able to call upon Patricia Cruz and James King, well after the end of their fellowship term, to receive counsel, continued mentorship and access to our extended network.
